Holidays 2008: the guide for lone parents 
Lone parent holidays 
 Gingerbread|One Parent Families Your local group may arrange holiday or days out or holidays for members.

 HELP (Holiday Endeavour for Lone Parents) Tel: 01427 668717 Web: www.helphols.co.uk A national charity offering low-cost and subsidised holidays with major companies throughout the UK and Spain for lone parents and their children. Membership is £5 a year.
 Single Parent Travel Club Tel: 0870 241 6210 (leave a message to request a membership form) Web: www.sptc.org.uk Low-cost short breaks and holidays organised by members. Regional groups offer local programmes of outings and get-togethers. Membership is £10 a year and includes four newsletters a year, detailing holidays and events planned.
 WAY Foundation for young widows and widowers Tel: 0870 011 3450 Web: www.wayfoundation.org.uk Members organise holidays and days out for other members. Membership costs £15 a year.

 Children's Country Holiday Fund  Tel: 020 7928 6522 Web: www.childrensholidays-cchf.org Provides UK holidays for London children in need and their families.
 Family Holiday Association  Tel: 020 722 3304 Web: www.fhaonline.org.uk Allocates grants to families in certain circumstances for one week's holiday of their choice. Applications received only from a health visitor, social worker or caring agency. Application forms for 2009 will be available from 1 November 2008 onwards.
 Family Welfare Association Tel: 020 7254 6251 Web: www.fwa.org.uk Can give grants towards the cost of providing recuperative holidays for women who are resident in Greater London.
 Pearson's Holiday Fund Tel: 020 8657 3053. Web: www.pearsonsholidayfund.org Supplies funds for disadvantaged children from 4 to 17 years of age for holidays in the UK. Applications should be made through a social worker, doctor, health visitor or teacher.


 Organisations for disabled travellers (including financial help)
 3H Fund (Help the Handicapped Holiday Fund) Tel: 01892 547474 Web: www.3hfund.org.uk Organises subsidised group holidays for physically disabled children and adults where volunteer helpers accompany them so that carers have the choice of taking a respite break. When funds are available, 3H Fund provides grants to enable a modest UK holiday break for low-income families where a dependant has a disability. 
 BREAK Tel: 01263 822161 web: www.break-charity.org A charity that provides subsidised and low cost holidays and respite care for children, adults and their families who are physically disabled or who have learning difficulties, Open throughout the year.
 The Seagull Trust Tel: 0131 333 0322 Web: www.seagulltrust.org.uk Runs a specially constructed residential canal boat that holiday cruises on the Scottish canals for families or groups where at least one member has a disability. Also runs short day cruiss that are free.
 Scouts Holiday Homes Trust Tel: 020 8433 7290 web: www.scoutbase.org.uk/hq/holhomes Affordable, self-catering holidays in chalets and caravans, mainly in southern England, for families with a disabled member. No Scout connection necessary.
 Starlight Foundation Tel: 020 7262 2881 wwb: www.starlight.org.uk Offers 'special wishes' to children aged between 4 and 18 who have a life-threatening illness
 Tourism for All UK Tel: 0845 124 9971 Web: www.tourismforall.info Formerly called Holiday Care, it provides information to people with disabilities and older people in relation to accessible accommodation and other tourism services.
 The Mothers Union Away from it All holiday scheme Tel: 020 7222 5533 web: www.themothersunion.org The Mothers Union is a Christian organisation and runs a holiday scheme that can help with the costs of holidays and provide accommodation for families under stress. Applications need the support of one of the following professionals: clergyperson, doctor, head teacher or social worker.Women's Holiday Centre Tel: 01729 860 207 Web: www.hortonwhc.org.uk The Women's Holiday Centre is run by a women's co-op to provide holidays for women and children on moderate or limited means. Payment is by a sliding scale according to income.
